Target group

3500 farmers and 8000 acres of cultivation land

Goal

Stop the use of chemical Pesticides and advised to use indigenous Bio-extract like Neem, custard apple, vitex leaf, pongamia Ipomoea etc., to save the farmers, human beings & Environment

Objectives

The crop and pests are managed without loss in yield and with drastic reduction of expenditure of Rs.4,000/- to 5,000/- per acre on pesticides

Approach/Strategy

In every village 30 farmers are selected and each farmer with agreement of cultivating 2 acres each (i.e., 30 farmers and 60 acres of cultivating land per village).

  • Dung + urine slurry are used without use of any chemical pesticides
  • procure Neem and guava plants from Forest Department and supplied to all 300 NPM farmers

 

Special Activities
  • SYO organizes “World No Pesticide Day” on 3rd December every year in these Revenue Mandals. A “Public rally” will be  organized in the villages with pla-cards on affect of pesticides and use of Bio-control method of Pesticides.
  • Organic paprika Chillies programme

Based on the experience and successful implementation of organic paprika chilies, SPICES BOARD enhanced the programme from 95 hectares to 300 hectares.
It was implemented in Nadikuda of Parkal mandal and chelpur of Ghanpur Mandal and Pullur of Ramaiahpally of Bhupalpally Mandal.

As a part of these Programmes we conduct  two field trainings to farmers every month, total 10 training camps will be conducted by our Technical Adviser Sri. T. Ramalingam JDA .The chief Functionary of SYO Sri .P.Damoder makes field visits every month explains the importance of organic farming,  Certification of organic paprika chilies and future gain at international market to the certified chilies are emphasized.

  • IPM Chillies programme

During 2006-07 SPICES BOARD has also sanctioned this programme to SYO over 400 hectares implemented at Ramakrishnapuram, Raiparhty Chowtaparthy villages of Parkal Mandal.

For the successful implementation of the programme we conducted field training's and field visits etc. Totally 10 training and field visits were conducted. Besides training this Programme was supported with the supply of following inputs for the farmers while distributing, the need, importance and use of the inputs was explained and demonstrated.

Results/ No of beneficieres

  • Investment for the pesticides is decreased gradually.
  • High accessibility of the marketing of the products.
  • The profits rate is increased for the farmers.
  • The need of money lenders and financiers decreased.
  • Farmers acquired confidence in cultivation by NPM method.
  • Farmers are aware of using the Pesticides.
  • Farmers increased in number in adopting the NPM method.
  • The fertility of the land increased.
  • Health conditions are improved.
  •  Farmer death rates are controlled.
