To Reduce the social acceptance of all violence against women and bring a positive change in the policy and programme environment that perpetuates its acceptance at an institutional and community level

Objectives

  • Supporting the women Survivors of violence approaching the police station
  • Increasing the accountability of police system towards survivors of violence
  • Making police system gender sensitive towards survivors of violence.
  • Evidence based research for advocacy with Government

Approach/Strategy

To promote behavioral changes as against gender discrimination in collaboration with multi stakeholder groups (government, academic, advocacy groups, CBOs and large civil society network and alliances)

Main Activities

  • Rebuilding women’s the self-esteem self worth and dignity apart from dealing the cases of domestic violence act
  • Building pressure groups within the communities to understand the causes of violence against women and act to prevent  violence against women 
  • Developing young activists to work on violence against women 
  • To give family counseling for the sake of the family welfare as well as welfare for the society
  • Providing supportive environment to women facing violence
  • Sensitizing the local officials to respond to women facing violence
  • Referral to other services including medical, psychiatric, educational and vocational
  • Providing Legal-aid
  • Educating the school and college students to respond against anti-social activities on women
Special Activities
  • Build a strategic programme to improve access of women from marginalized communities to the formal justice system, which also generates best practices for wider use in advocacy with the State and civil society
  • Enhance advocacy efforts by civil society (with leadership from marginalized groups) for reform in State policies and practice on all violence against women
  • Develop a focused campaign to end all violence against women along with long-term development initiatives focused on mobilizing and empowering women and men to challenge discriminatory belief systems and practices
